Jose Mourinho makes it clear who he blames for Jadon Sancho’s struggles at Man United

Jose Mourinho has pointed the finger at Erik ten Hag for failing to maximize Jadon Sancho’s potential during his time at Manchester United.

Sancho, 24, rediscovered his form after returning to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January and featured for Edin Terzic’s side against Real Madrid in the Champions League final at Wembley. The young winger has had a tough spell at Old Trafford, culminating in a backlash with the Ten Hag criticizing Sancho’s training performances in September.

Following a refusal to apologize to the Dutch coach, Sancho has been banned from all first-team facilities. Despite mixed opinions on the striker’s situation, Mourinho suggested that the Ten Hag must take some responsibility for the turn of events.

On TNT Sports, ahead of the Champions League clash, Mourinho commented on Sancho: “As a player we know his talent. The kid certainly made mistakes. But his manager certainly didn’t get the best out of him either.

“I think in this case certainly they (Manchester United) are looking at it and trying to analyze what happened at Man United and what he found at Dortmund.”

Having experienced his own challenges with players throughout his career, Mourinho stressed the importance of managers learning from their interactions with players. He continued: “If I look at my own history, sometimes I failed with the players, I couldn’t create the right empathy and I couldn’t understand the DNA of the player, I couldn’t help the players grow in the right direction.
