Liverpool are eyeing cut-price Leeds transfer amid Gordon’s claim to Anfield

A roundup of the latest Liverpool news as Anfield chiefs eye a cut-price move for Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville and Anthony Gordon has an Anfield claim.

Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville ticks all the boxes for Liverpool

Liverpool are interested in a cut-price move for Crysencio Summerville after Leeds United lost in the Championship play-off final. That’s according to Ben Jacobs, who claims the Whites may now have to accept bids in the region of £30-40m for their 22-year-old striker.

Summerville has impressed Liverpool in the Championship, while the Anfield club have explored possible wide attacking targets. His performances have even convinced the Reds that the Dutchman ticks every box. Now Leeds may have to sell for even less than they would ideally like.

Only Blackburn Rovers’ Sammie Szmodics (27) and Southampton star Adam Armstrong (21) have outscored Summerville (19) in the Championship this term. He provided the Whites with nine assists during 43 regular season games. Summerville scored once in three playoff games.

Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon admits Anfield is ‘at the highest level’

Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon admits playing at Anfield is “at the highest level” as Liverpool explore his transfer. The Everton product claims the atmosphere created on the red side of Stanley Park is second only to St James’ Park and especially loves ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Gordon was in the visiting team for just two trips to Anfield in his senior career. He is also yet to secure a point on his trips to Liverpool for either Everton or Newcastle. But the 23-year-old influenced his first goal at Anfield with an assist as the Magpies lost 4-2 in January.

Anfield could soon be Gordon’s home ground as David Ornstein reported in May that Liverpool “really like” the Newcastle striker. He even has admirers at Manchester City and a lot of teams. But the lure of Anfield could now help Liverpool in any transfer battle.

“Apart from St James’, it’s Anfield – by far,” Gordon told Channel 4. “I think because I’m from the city, I grew up watching it. But I think before the game when they play “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” it’s great. It’s at the highest level.”

West Ham United midfielder Mohamed Kudus is “definitely” a star on Liverpool’s radar for a transfer. That’s according to TBR Football transfer expert Graeme Bailey, who exclusively told Rousing The Kop that the Reds have done their due diligence on the 23-year-old.

But West Ham are unlikely to agree to sell Kudus this summer as his release clause does not activate until next summer. The Hammers will hold off any raids as much as they can this coming off-season. But the release clause will make a transfer more feasible in 2025.

Kudus has got Liverpool’s tails up after scoring eight and assisting six goals in his first Premier League spell. He played 33 times under David Moyes and made 15 more appearances in all competitions. The Ghanaian ace finished the term with a total of 18 goals and seven assists.
