Twisted hooligan, KFC knifeman and dangerous dog owner among those jailed in Coventry and Warwickshire in May

A twisted stalker, a KFC knifeman and a dangerous dog owner are among those on the streets of Coventry and Warwickshire. We took a look at all the people who were jailed in May.

These include two men behind serious domestic violence cases, as well as the killers of a young man in Coventry and a violent man who stabbed an innocent young man outside KFC.

Alwayne Barnes and Charlene Reid

Alwayne Barnes from Laneside was armed with a Stanley knife when he attacked Aiden Fox outside KFC in Nottingham in an unprovoked attack. He stabbed the 20-year-old four times – in the chest, back and shoulders.

He was joined by three others in the attack, including Charlene Reid, of Eden Street, Coventry. The pair, along with two others, were sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court for the attack, which the victim said left him looking like he was in a horror film.

Jantibhai Patel

convolute pretended Jantibhai Patel someone else to subject their partner to a campaign of abuse. His jealousy was so great that the victim felt that “she was attacked every day for six months”.

Warwickshire Police said Patel, of The Green, Dunchurch, was behind a relentless pattern of harassment and abuse, including malicious communications, fraud and stalking. He even placed a tracking device on his victim’s car.

Gang who slaughtered Coventry man ‘like lions on prey’

Police say seven killers who ambushed a Coventry man pounced on him “like lions on their prey” and slashed him with a 24cm knife.

Tragically, Bailey Atkinson’s last words were: ‘I’m going to die, tell my mum I love her’ as she bled to death after what a detective said was one of the ‘most ferocious attacks’ he had ever seen.

His killers were jailed for a total of more than 130 years at Nottingham Crown Court. The full story can be read here

Francis Burton

Two police officers were bitten by a Presa Canario dog, which is now to be put down. His owner Francis Burton was jailed and banned from owning a dog for ten years after the incident in Bulkington last year.

Warwickshire Police say Burton failed to stop the dog, named Boss, from being dangerous. In the interview, she admitted to having a “mind of her own” and giving up on training sessions.

Adrian Harcourt was convicted of two counts of driving a dangerous dog out of control causing injury. For the full story, read here

Omar White

Omar White burned his partner with a lighter and held a knife to her throat during a campaign of abuse.

White was said to have made his victim’s life a “living nightmare” after the pair met on Instagram. Within months of meeting White, Birmingham Crown Court heard her flat had been trashed, her body was covered in bruises and she had been completely cut off from everyone, as well as deep in debt.

White denied wrongdoing until the day of his trial in court. It was closed.

£1 million Exhall cannabis plant gang

Tan Tran and Son Hoang were caught hiding in a secret wall in an Exhall industrial facility they had in a cannabis factory.

But they did not run the operation alone, believed to be worth £1m. Dien Phan and Suu Lo were also behind the huge operation – which saw 17 rooms converted to grow and harvest cannabis.

Police found more than 1,800 plants when they raided an industrial site in Crondall Road last October. For the full story, read here

Wayne Morris

Among Wayne Morris’s crimes was an attempt to steal from a dead friend’s house in Bedworth.

The terrifying Bedworth burglar was also behind the racial abuse while being treated at the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton.
