He visits the site of his new housing project in Nansledan and Fistral beach

Prince William is in Cornwall today on two engagements in Newquay.

The first will be in Nansledan, where he visits the site of an “innovative housing project” to tackle homelessness.

Working with local homeless charity St Petrocs, the Duchy aims to provide 24 ‘globally supported’ homes for homeless people in the locality.

The land is being provided by Ducat, who will also provide design management and expertise, and construction is due to start in September.

Next, the Prince meets with volunteers who aim to promote water safety on Fistral beach.

The Duke will first spend time with Holywell Bay and Newquay Surf Life Saving Clubs, which train and support volunteers to save lives and prevent drowning in open water.

Her Royal Highness will then meet lifeguards and RNLI staff who provide a seasonal service on Fistral Beach to learn about the work they do to keep locals and tourists safe as they enjoy the summer season.

Tomorrow, the Duke will make his first visit to the Isles of Scilly since becoming the Duke of Cornwall.

He will meet with local business representatives at St Mary’s Harbour, then head to St Mary’s Community Hospital. Mary to meet staff and learn about a new integrated health and social care facility to be built on adjacent land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.
