Thomas Tuchel hints he is interested in Manchester United job as Erik ten Hag sacks him ‘decision made’

Thomas Tuchel has spoken of his love for the Premier League after being linked with the Manchester United job.

The Bayern Munich manager is the bookies’ favorite to take over from Erik ten Hag in the summer amid speculation the Dutchman will be sacked at the end of the season.

A Champions League winner during an 18-month spell with Chelsea, Tuchel, 50, will leave Bayern at the end of this month, having failed to win a trophy in his only full season in charge of the German giants.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid, Tuchel hinted he would be open to a return to English football after enjoying his time in west London.

“It’s no secret that I loved it at Chelsea,” he said.

“I loved it in England and I certainly loved it in the Premier League. It was a very, very special time in England and I remember it very well.”

Bayern were beaten by two late goals from Joselu at the Bernabeu to deny them a Champions League final meeting with domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.

Tuchel was criticized for substituting Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala shortly before Madrid’s return, but explained after the game that he was suffering from fatigue and injury.

Few clear-cut candidates have emerged to fill the Old Trafford central spot in the summer should the Ten Hag be sacked for a wildly inconsistent season that has seen them lose a record number of Premier League games while also reaching the final FA Cups.

Reports suggest that a decision on his future will be made after that game with Manchester City and that his successor will not be chosen on their record. England boss Gareth Southgate, former Chelsea manager Graham Potter and Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi have also been linked.
