Four new UK driving laws are now in force

Drivers are being warned about four new driving laws that have now come into force. The changes, which started on Saturday June 1, could lead to hefty fines for some drivers if they are ignored.

Local authorities currently testing electric scooters can now request changes to the trial area and fleet size. Any approved changes will take effect from yesterday (Saturday, June 1).

In other developments, significant rule changes will be experienced in three Scottish cities where petrol and diesel drivers will be affected by the introduction of Low Emission Zones (LEZs). These zones, which will operate continuously, will use Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras linked to local and national vehicle authorization databases.

The Manchester Evening News reports that vehicles that do not meet the required standards will be identified and fined. This regulation will be applied 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
