UEFA decides Manchester United and Man City will play alongside sister clubs in Europe

UEFA has apparently made a decision for Man United and Man City to play in Europe alongside their sister clubs.

UEFA has made the decision that Manchester United and Manchester City will be allowed to compete in Europe alongside their sister clubs.

After winning an unprecedented fourth and fourth consecutive Premier League titles, City will once again be one of the favorites for the Champions League next season.

They will be joined by fellow CFG (City Football Group) Girona, who finished third in La Liga to qualify for the European club competition for the first time in their history.

United, meanwhile, booked a place in the Europa League as, despite an eighth-placed finish, FA Cup final triumph against Manchester City means they are in the second round.

But so are the Ligue One side, also owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS.

The pair of Manchester giants are eagerly awaiting the verdict on whether owning multiple clubs in European club competitions would be a conflict of interest.

L’Equipe reported that UEFA rules stipulate clubs that own shares controlling more than 30% of each club to compete in the same competition.

However, Martyn Ziegler de time claims that UEFA will allow both teams and their sister teams to compete in the same competition.

UEFA’s Club Financial Control Board (CFCB) is due to announce a ruling on Monday on how it will affect City and United.

The green light is ready to give pending the fulfillment of certain conditions, in particular the operations in Girona and Nice which take place through a “blind trust”.

The same approach happened with AC Milan and Toulouse, who were both admitted to Europe last term.

Both are owned by American investment fund Bird Capital, but major changes have been made to ensure there are differences in the structure of the two teams.

Clubs will be told that the rules can still change after the 2024/25 campaign, as the reported appeal is deemed to be a “temporary alternative”.
