Why Chelsea haven’t announced Enzo Maresca yet as two former Blues reject Leicester City

Pride of London explains the most likely reason why Chelsea Football Club have not announced Enzo Maresca as the new Blues manager at the time of writing. Major media outlets suggested the Italian would be confirmed at Stamford Bridge last Friday.

Meanwhile, a pair of one-time CFC bosses rejected Leicester City. This is ironic as Maresca heads to West London from the East Midlands outfit. Not to mention the fact that Chels have taken some stars from the Foxes in recent years. Those signings were of different grades and price tags.

Leicester and Chelsea met in the 2021 FA Cup final. The Foxes emerged victorious in that one; moreover, it was LCFC’s first triumph in that competition after some 130 years of trying.

Before that, two Premier League champion midfielders signed for the Blues: Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kante. Kante was very successful with CFC, as he was with LCFC. Let’s not get into Drinkwater’s spell at the Bridge.

Ben Chilwell has been a huge signing at the English capital club of late; the left-back was a product of Leicester City’s Academy. Then another defender, Wesley Fofana, also joined the Blues in a big money deal. When he returns from his latest injury, if he can stay fit, the Frenchman will be a wonder for Chelsea.

There are also other businesses, such as Cesare Casadei. But the links are firmly established in contemporary times. Enzo Maresca is the latest in a long line of connections between the teams.

Maurizio Sarri is the first name said to have turned down the call of the King’s Power. The man from Italy would have been as polarizing with the fan base at Filbert Way as he was at Fulham Road.

Meanwhile, Graham Potter would also reject the Foxes, it is speculated. The Englishman has his heart set on the England job if Gareth Southgate leaves the job. Potter could also consider Manchester United, should that offer arise.

Several significant sports journalists, or companies, have actually stated that the 44-year-old has taken over as manager at Chelsea. It has also been suggested that an announced club could take place on Friday 31st May.

Although, it’s probably nothing for Chels supporters to worry about. There is a multitude of legalities involved in these installations, especially when one is dealing with a release clause. It will definitely be public very soon.
