ITV Britain’s Got Talent fans slam ‘awful’ announcement seconds from final

Many Britain’s Got Talent fans were left in awe as they criticized the wildcard game for the final. The wildcard joined the 10 acts who reached the grand final on Sunday night (June 2).

While those acts were chosen throughout the week through public votes or judges’ selections, the wildcard was purely chosen by the judges. Simon explained at the start of the final that it was an easy decision to choose The Trickstars – a dog act featuring Lucy Heath and her team of amazing dogs who are stars of TikTok, viral videos and TV.

Lucy auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent in both Series 9, Series 10 and Series 17, but with different dogs on all three occasions. In Series 10 he auditioned with Trip Hazard and the pair made it to the finals, and in Series 17 he auditioned with Strike, Tempo, Peach and Trip Hazard and they made it to the semi-finals.

Simon admitted: “You know the conversation lasted 20 seconds. We all said the same act, so it was a very, very, very easy decision.” But many fans of the ITV talent show were less than impressed.

Georgie commented about X: “THIS is the wildcard…?” Scott said: “All those great acts that missed out and WHICH one did you pick? They didn’t win the first time, what makes you think this would be any different considering they didn’t even make the final 3 in their semi.”

@Hennaa1204 wrote: “What a waste of a wildcard.” Jordan and Bailey agreed: “Terrible wildcard choice…come on judges.” And Dan Falconer added: “Not dogs as a wildcard.”

But some were happy to see The Trickstars back. Kelly commented: “Aww it’s the dogs!! Yeah,” while @mm15007 said: “The dog act is an interesting wildcard.”
