Rob Burrow’s proud tribute to wife Lindsey in latest social media post after death announced

Former rugby player and disability campaigner Rob Burrow paid proud tribute to his wife in his final social media post before his sad death. It has been announced that the former Leeds Rhinos star has died aged 41 after a battle with motor neurone disease this evening (Sunday 2 June).

Burrow, who retired from the game in 2017, was diagnosed with MND in 2019 and has raised millions with former teammate Kevin Sinfield to raise awareness of the disease. Rob’s last social media post was about his wife Lindsey as he shared his pride in her success as a published author.




A message on his account on May 7 says: “I am delighted to share the news that my wife Lindsey Burrow’s book: Take Care is now available for pre-order http://linktr.ee/takecarebook. I hope Lindsey’s book will inspire people to be more like her. What a world @PenguinUKBooks @centurybooksuk would be.

He leaves behind his wife Lindsey and their children Macy, Maya and Jackson. His family released a heartbreaking tribute, confirming his death on the Leeds Rhinos website.

It reads: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved son, husband, father, brother and friend. Rob has always been a true inspiration throughout his life, whether it was on the rugby field or during his battle with MND (motor neurone disease) He never let others define what he could achieve and believed in his own capacity to do more.

“The outpouring of love and support that Rob and the entire Burrow family have received over the past four and a half years has meant so much to Rob. In particular, the rugby league family and the MND community rallied around Rob to inspire him, thank you. for your support.

“For those who have known Rob throughout his life, his determination and spirit in the face of mnd over the past four and a half years has come as no surprise. Rob never accepted that he couldn’t do something, he just found his own way to do it better than anyone else, He will continue to inspire us all every day, in a world full of adversity, we must we dare to dream.
