Straight Mile tragedy, when a man died after his car crashed into a tree

A man has died after a car crashed into a tree on a main road in Warwickshire. West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) told CoventryLive this morning (June 3) that despite the best efforts of medics, nothing could be done to save the man.

Police closed the B4453, known as the Straight Mile, near Rugby yesterday afternoon (June 2) following reports of a “serious collision”. WMAS said they responded to a 999 call to reports that a car had crashed into a tree.

Two ambulances, a paramedic and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. They could not save the man.

“Upon arrival I discovered a patient, a man. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.”
