Barnsley mum Hayley MacFarlane admits she died in Leeds park.

A mother from Barnsley has admitted causing the death of her baby girl in a park in Leeds.

Hayley MacFarlane, 39, of Carrington Street, Barnsley, admitted a charge of infanticide as she appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Monday. MacFarlane admitted causing the death of his five-month-old daughter, Evelyn MacFarlane, who died in hospital on December 20 last year.

West Yorkshire Police previously said officers attended the scene at the junction of Clarendon Road and Moorland Road near Woodhouse Moor Park in Leeds that day after MacFarlane called the emergency services and reported that Evelyn was in a serious condition.

As she appeared in court, MacFarlane was arraigned and pleaded guilty to the charge of infanticide, namely causing the death of her child by an act of suffocation while her mind was not recovered from the effects her birth.

The plea was accepted by the prosecution and the Honorable Leeds Judge Guy Kearl told MacFarlane that he would next appear for a further hearing at Sheffield Crown Court before the Honorable Lady Justice Lamber on June 13. The case was adjourned for reports.
