The cameras will be installed at four new locations along West Park Avenue, Fletcher Street, Miller Park Avenue and Simcoe Road and will be activated on September 1.

PRESS RELEASE
TOWN OF BRADFORD WEST GWILLIMBURY
************************
The 90-day advanced notice period for the second rotation of automated speed enforcement (ASE) cameras is effective from June 1, 2024.

“Coming Soon” signs have been installed at four new ASE locations in BWG Community Safety Zones.

The first rotation of ASE cameras was installed and activated on May 1, 2024. These cameras will be removed, installed in the four new locations, and activated beginning September 1, 2024 (following the mandatory 90-day advance notice period).

The second rotation of ASE cameras will be installed in the following locations:

  1. West Park Avenue, north of Brian Collier Way
  2. Fletcher Street between Church Street and Barrie Street
  3. Miller Park Avenue between Angela Street and West Park Avenue
  4. Simcoe Road, north of Gibson Circle

After four months of operation, the cameras from the second rotation will be removed and reinstalled in four new locations in the community safety zone to begin the third and final rotation of the pilot project.

ASE is an automated system that uses a camera and speed measuring device to detect and capture images of vehicles traveling more than the posted speed limit. The city has partnered with Global Traffic Group Ltd. for the duration of the pilot project to provide technology, processing solutions and ASE expertise to BWG.

The board approved the ASE pilot project in October 2023, which includes a total of three rotations. Each rotation begins with a mandatory 90-day notice period via advanced warning signs at each respective ASE location. The notification period is followed by a four-month operational/in-use period during which the cameras are active and vehicle owners caught speeding in the posted areas will be ticketed.
