Caludon Castle lockdown live as students sent home following ‘police advice’

Police have advised that a school in Coventry may have to close following an incident. Caludon Castle has sent a message to parents and carers.

CoventryLive has seen an email from the school explaining why pupils are being sent home. They say they are following “police advice”.




The school has just reopened after the May half holiday. Many Year 11 students sat their GCSE Maths exams this morning.

It is unclear if any other exams have been scheduled for this afternoon. It’s also unclear what prompted police to tell school management to close.

We have contacted West Midlands Police for comment.

“Police Search of the School”

A parent, who did not want to be named, told CoventryLive that police had carried out a search around the school and its grounds in Axholme Road.

No official confirmation was provided by police as to why schools were advised to close for the rest of the day.

What is known is that students are being sent home.

Statement from West Midlands Ambulance Service

CoventryLive contacted West Midlands Ambulance Service.

A spokesman confirmed they had not received any calls to the school.

We have also contacted West Midlands Fire Service and are still waiting to hear from West Midlands Police.

Director’s statement

The message sent to parents and carers from the principal, Sarah Kenrick reads:

We have received advice from the police and are currently in the process of closing the school for the remainder of today. Staff will start dismissing students from 12.45pm. Please email the year team if you need to discuss your child.

Those students with exams this afternoon have been contacted.
