Birmingham City Council says “sorry” as a 12-hour warning has been issued for payments

Birmingham City Council issued an urgent 12-hour warning about online payments and forms as it said it was “sorry for any inconvenience”. The “shattered” authority apologized for the update as it warned that money may not be received for a short period overnight.

The council’s website will undergo “planned maintenance” between today and tomorrow, Monday June 3 and Tuesday June 4, it has announced. However, this will mean that some of their forms and systems will be ‘offline’ for a period of 12 hours.

Birmingham residents who want to use the site to pay or submit forms may be affected by the outage between 7pm on Monday and 7am on Tuesday. This may result in any payments such as council tax or parking fines not being received by the council.

In particular, local residents were warned that payments made after 9.30pm “may not be received”. Birmingham City Council turned to X, formerly Twitter, to notify people ahead of the outage.

They wrote: “Due to planned maintenance, some of our forms and systems will be offline from 7pm tonight, Monday 3rd June until 7am Tuesday 4th June.

“Forms or payments submitted after 9.30pm may not be received. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
