Legendary comedian Brent Butt will perform at the Words Festival

Before Corner Gas was released and gained popularity, Brent Butt often appeared at the Festival of Words.

MOOSE JAW — The Festival of Words returns to Moose Jaw for its 28th year, bringing many authors and events for the community to enjoy. This year, a special guest returns to promote his first book.

This special guest is the amazing and legendary comedian, Brent Butt. The comedian, best known for his work on Corner Gas, released his first book, a thriller novel titled “Giant,” in October.

Butt will be promoting her new book at the festival on Saturday, June 20 at the Mae Wilson Theatre. Before promotion begins, Butt will perform a comedy set, followed by an interview moderated by Rob Carnie. They will discuss Butt’s career and his choice to write a thriller rather than a comedy. After the interview, Butt will sign books.

The event runs from 8:00pm to 10:00pm, with the interview after the comedy set, with the book signing at 9:30pm. The entry fee for this event is $60. However, if you plan to attend multiple events, an event pass might be more useful.

“Huge” is a thriller set in 1994 that revolves around three comedians named Dale, Rynn and Hobie. These comedians begin a series of shows in a remote part of the countryside. Hobie reveals that his intentions may not be as pure as the others thought, making them realize that their tour has become less about laughing and more about getting off the road alive.

Brent Butt, the iconic Canadian comedian began his comedy career in 1988 performing amateur night at a comedy club in Saskatoon. In 2003, Butt co-created the award-winning television series Corner Gas, which won a variety of awards, including nine Canadian Comedy Awards and six Gemini Awards.

Before Corner Gas was released and gained popularity, Butt often appeared at the Festival of Words. In the 90s, Butt lent his comedic genius to the festival, offering comedy workshops and live comedy sets. Now he’s back to promote his first book.
