Rebecca Ferguson of Mission 7 praises the unspoken element of the series

Actress Rebecca Ferguson praised Tom Cruise for his effort to create strong characters.

The Swede, who will return to Silo for Season 2, reprises her role as Ilsa Faust in this month’s seventh Mission film, Dead Reckoning – Part One, and ahead of its release she caught up. The digital spy for an exclusive conversation.

“Seeing Tom and (director Christopher McQuarrie) on set and how they talk — because we don’t have scripts, I can see how their brains work together (while) talking about character,” Ferguson said.

“We talk a lot about action, we talk about the need for stunts and then build the story around it, but we don’t talk a lot about how driven Tom is to create character and motive and emotion.”

Starting with 1996’s original Mission: Impossible, the espionage franchise has become Hollywood’s most tested product, and it may even extend beyond next year’s Dead Reckoning – Part Two.

Weighing in on his continued success, Benji Dunn star Simon Pegg explained of Cruise: “He knows that if the characters aren’t in place, they’re real and meaningful, then none of the stunts will mean anything because you don’t care of this.

“It’s all very well to see someone jumping off a cliff on a motorcycle, but if you don’t care about that guy, what his motivations are, where he’s going, it means nothing. Quietly, behind the scenes, while everyone is talking about the stunts, they really focus on creating characters you can believe in.”

Hayley Attwell, who plays Grace, echoed these sentiments, noting Cruise’s “filmmaking curiosity.”

“What are audiences looking for today? What are their own expectations given what they’re used to seeing? They really care about that,” she said. DS.

“He always tries to look at this work objectively to see what lands for the audience. He’s very good at saying, “I had an idea, I shot it, I looked back, and interestingly, the camera doesn’t want it.”

“It’s always his dedication, his servitude to the audience, that’s why Mission just keeps getting better and better.”

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will be released in UK cinemas on July 10th and in US cinemas on July 12th.
