Lambeth Country Show is gearing up for its 50th edition this weekend

The event, which began in 1974 and annually attracts more than 120,000 people over the course of the weekend, includes a main stage led by roots and reggae, animal shows, vegetable and flower competitions, more than 200 vendors and exhibitors, a top music experience LatinoLife . , sports sessions, fun fair and much more.

Big names set to appear include legendary Jamaican reggae singer Luciano and reggae and dancehall DJ David ‘Ram Jam’ Rodigan, who will be playing on the main stage on Sunday from 5.30pm.

Venetia Reid-Baptiste, corporate director at Lambeth Council, said: “The Lambeth Country Show is the crown jewel of our annual calendar of events and much loved by our communities.

“This is 50th we’ve had the country show for a long time and the council has worked hard to maintain it, to make it a safe event and to keep it a free event because we know how much it means to our residents. It’s been months in the planning.

“You really have to be there in person to appreciate how much it offers. There is so much to see and it is such an inclusive celebration of our diversity.”

Running the show in partnership with Brockwell Live saves the council £700,000 in the cost of running the event, as well as securing more than £100,000 for community investment. Restoration work for any impacts to Brockwell Park from the two-week pre-summer series of events at Brockwell Park will begin as soon as the country show finishes and will be paid for by Brockwell Live.

Opening hours are from 13:00 to 21:00 with last entry at 20:30 on both days.
