Man seriously injured as Mazda overturns in crash which closed road near Coventry

Two people were injured, one potentially seriously, after the Mazda they were in overturned on the A45. Police, fire and paramedics attended the scene on the main road just before the Ryton roundabout late yesterday afternoon (May 8).

Warwickshire Police said a “full road closure” was put in place while firefighters attended to a passenger who was trapped inside the car. He suffered a potentially serious head injury, West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) confirmed.



He was taken on “blue lights” to Coventry and Warwickshire University Hospital. A WMAS spokesman explained: “We were called at 5.44pm to a road traffic collision involving a car that had overturned at the junction of London Road and Leamington Road in Ryton On Dunsmore in Coventry.

“Two ambulances arrived at the scene. On arrival we found two men who were the driver and a passenger in the car.

“The passenger was assessed and suffered potentially serious, non-life threatening injuries. He received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene before being taken to University Hospital Coventry under blue light emergency conditions.

“The driver was assessed by ambulance staff and suffered injuries which are not believed to be serious. He was taken to Coventry University Hospital for further assessment.”
