Unique castle-like house in Worcester up for auction for £695,000

A unique gatehouse is on the market in Worcestershire. The Grade II listed four-bed cottage is a former gatehouse of the Croome Estate in Severn Stoke Bank, Worcester and is up for auction with a guide price of £695,000-plus.

On the market with Under The Hammer, Birmingham, the unique property opens for bidding today (4th June) and closes on Thursday 6th June.

The agents state: “The lodge is a distinguished Grade II listed former gatehouse situated in the picturesque village of Severn Stoke, Worcester, which has been extended and refurbished to an exceptional standard. The original structure was built around 1840, this unique property features Tudor architectural style and offers a rare opportunity to acquire a truly unique property.”

They add: “Originally part of The Croome Estate, the Lodge was designed by James Wyatt, potentially based on an earlier design by renowned architect Robert Adam.” The pictures show a few pieces left to complete this fantastic conversion but it looks very much like a ‘Grand Design’ project with the 180 year old ‘castle’ as the main structure joined with a modern extension creating massive living space.

With bi-fold doors and wonderful views overlooking the Malvern Hills, this is a truly unique property. You have until Thursday to receive the offers.
