Manchester United will sign another former Man City man after Berrada and Wilcox

Manchester United have raided Manchester City for another behind-the-scenes job.

When David Moyes uttered those infamous words in 2014 – Manchester City, the Scot said, were at the level Manchester United “aspired to be” – his comments felt like the prime example of how not to win friends and influence people.

But ten years later, the gap between the two Premier League giants widening despite the fact that The red devils‘ FA Cup success a week ago, even the reddest of Manchester United supporters would have to accept that their bitter blue-clad rivals are playing to a standard that Erik ten Hag’s side must aim for if they are to to reclaim his place at the top of English football.

Despite these 115 allegations, Man United’s pursuit of a number of behind-the-scenes personnel who have helped City become the dominant force in the domestic game highlights Ineos’ desire to finally put a clear, coherent and elite structure into boardroom and beyond. .

Toby Craig, the latest Ineos employee

According to the Daily Mail, Toby Craig will become the third former City staff member to make the move to Manchester since Sir Jim Ratcliffe took over. Although not as high-profile an arrival as Berrarda and Wilcox, Craig is seen as another “significant” addition, hired to be United’s new chief communications officer after spells at the Etihad and Chelsea.

Craig, whose job will see him play a key role in public affairs and communications, is understood to report to Berrada. The former Barcelona boss will not join United until mid-July due to his gardening leave, but Craig is said to start his new job tomorrow.

According to The Org, the latest Ineos-led hire from Man United has also worked as director of corporate affairs and director of commercial communications at City Football Group, as well as head of marketing communications.

Craig, a graduate of the University of Leeds, also holds a Law degree from the University of London.

And while frustration is growing in some quarters over the radio silence surrounding Ten Hag’s future – Ineos are yet to confirm or deny whether the FA Cup-winning Dutchman is staying – the atmosphere behind the scenes at Carrington is clearly much better for Ratcliffe’s presence.

Manchester United take a leaf from City’s success

Jason Wilcox, Man United’s new technical director, has played a key role in the emergence of Man City’s academy as one of the most prosperous in the game.

Omar Berrada, whose arrival as CEO raised eyebrows and dropped jaws, may yet be the most transformative addition United have made on the pitch in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

“I spoke to some guys who are at City,” said six-time Premier League champion Rio Ferdinand red devils, said Vibe with Five when Berrada’s appointment was confirmed a few months ago. “They can’t believe we got him. They think “wow”.

“He’s done so much in the game at different levels. And it was successful. And it’s a very good and clear signing for us.

“I think this could be one of our best January signings, especially in the current climate.”
