Catalans Dragons confirm the long-term injury to Wakefield Trinity forward Mike McMeeken

Catalans Dragons have confirmed that England striker Mike McMeeken will be out for 14 weeks with a substantial thumb injury. McMeeken, who will now miss the mid-season international against France later this month, suffered a fractured thumb and recently underwent surgery to correct the problem.

He will now begin his recovery and rehab process with the Catalans machine having signed with Wakefield Trinity for the 2025 season and beyond, set to return at the culmination of the current Super League campaign.




As it stands, McMeeken will hope to return at the end of the regular rounds, with the Catalans set for a play-off final. The Dragons are currently in fifth place with eight wins from 13 games so far.

The club confirmed in a statement: “Catalans Dragons will be without Mike McMeeken for an extended period of time. The England international has suffered a fractured thumb. He underwent successful surgery to repair the injury and will be out for 14 weeks “.

Wakefield, meanwhile, have signed McMeeken on a four-year deal from next year. His Catalani team-mate Tom Johnstone will also ply his trade at the West Yorkshire club in 2025, who look set to return to the top flight after being relegated last season.
