Man sentenced after admitting stalking woman

A man has been given a 20-month suspended prison sentence after admitting stalking a woman.

Simon Anteney, 35, of Yarnbrook Gardens in Trowbridge, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday after pleading guilty in November last year.

Wiltshire Police said Anteney sent the woman messages and gifts and visited her at home and at work. He also contacted her family and created fake email accounts to continue the messages.

He was also given a five-year restraining order and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and 20 days of rehabilitation.

Coroner Dawson said: “I commend the victim in this case for her courage in coming forward and her strength throughout our investigation.

“Hate is a crime that has a profound effect on those who experience it.

“This is something Wiltshire Police takes seriously and we will respond strongly to reports of fixated, obsessive, unwanted and repeated behavior which has an intrusive impact on people’s lives,” they added.
