‘Lovely’ mum who died suddenly aged 31 was ‘absolutely devoted’ to her eight children

A mum-of-eight who was found dead at a home in Cornwall has been named as her mum pays a loving tribute. Amee Louise Bettison was just 31 when she was discovered in her new ‘forever home’ in Bodmin.

Police said at the time that her death was “unexplained”. Her mother Sharon Trewin has now paid tribute and confirmed she died unexpectedly but of natural causes.

Sharon said Amee was “loved by everyone” and “absolutely devoted to her children”, adding that the former “rebellious” teenager was a “lovely girl” who had given birth “every year for the last eight years”. Her children, now aged almost two to nine, “were her life”.

Sharon said: “She was a lovely girl. Everyone loved Amee. She was very private and wouldn’t share much with anyone. If she had a problem, she would handle it herself. She was strong like that.

“She was absolutely devoted to her eight children. They were her life. Whatever she did, her children always came first.

“She had just moved into her forever home. Life was looking great. She wanted to go on holiday with her family in June and was making plans to take the kids to Alicante for Christmas. She was making big plans for her life.”

Amee, who died on April 13, had two sisters and a brother, and Sharon said the girls were close. “They were always together and going out together. She was a bit of a rebel as a teenager. She had been very attached to me as a child. Then I lost my father when she was thirteen or fourteen, but she soon accepted. life together and and -got her life sorted out. Then she got pregnant for eight years.”

The family rallied to look out for each other, Sharon said, and to make sure they saw the children, who are “doing well” but are clearly struggling to understand what happened. She is creating a memorial garden at her home where they can remember Amee.

She added: “It was kind of explained that God needed a mummy to take care of all the babies in heaven and he took their mummy because she was the best.

“We want her to be remembered for the kind and loving girl that she was.”

An inquest into the cause of her death was opened and adjourned at Cornwall Coroner’s Court in Truro. A full investigation will take place in due course.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said at the time: “Police were called at 4.20pm on Saturday 13 April following concerns for the welfare of a woman at a property in Higher Bore Street, Bodmin. The ambulance service also attended.

“The 30-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her next of kin have been informed. The death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious. A file will be prepared for HM Coroner.”

Tributes were then paid on social media. Natalie Gill wrote: “She was such a strong person and had eight absolutely beautiful children. Sending condolences to her family, such a tragic loss so young.”

Susan Iles added: “Gone far too soon. Beautiful RIP.” Isabella-Sofía Sciammaro: “He will be missed forever, fly high beautiful.”

Sharon wrote: “RIP my sweet daughter you will always be with me.” Her sister Hollie Trewin added: “I love you forever and always my big sister, I miss you millions.”

Another sister, Aleesha Trewin: “I will love you forever my beautiful sister, I will miss you always.” Chelsea Nicole Dean: “She’s going to be the most beautiful angel.”

Debbi Kent: “She was unique in her own way. Her babies will know their mother was amazing.”
