BBC Weather’s verdict on when heatwaves could hit the UK this summer

BBC weather experts have given their verdict on when heatwaves could hit Britain this summer. After what has been a very wet spring, many will want to know if and when we will see any spells of sunshine.

It won’t be imminent, says BBC Weather, and June will start wet, reports BirminghamLive – but things will get better. “At the moment it looks quite likely that the summer will be warmer than average overall, but rain is also expected to occur. If you’re planning further afield, it’s worth keeping up to date with our monthly outlook and checking the forecast closer to the hour on the BBC Weather app.”

But later this month, we could start to see some “summertime conditions”, the BBC said. “Overall, it will remain fairly changeable across the UK as temperatures drop to or slightly below the seasonal average next week,” it said. “Later in the month there is a chance for summer conditions to develop.”

It adds: “In the next forecast we will see if the summer outlook continues into late June and early July.” While we know what’s on the horizon, locally residents should brace themselves for a mix of showers and sunshine this week.

The latest Met Office forecasts for Coventry and Warwickshire show it will “feel cooler” in the evening than late and there is a chance of showers over the coming days. But as we head into the weekend, it will be drier on Saturday (June 8).

The forecast so far for this week is as follows:
