Former Leicestershire Post Office in ‘prime’ location fails to sell at auction

A former Leicestershire Post Office has failed to sell at auction. An apartment was also included in the transaction.

The former post office, in Tilton on the Hill, now trades as a convenience store and was part of the latest sale from SDL Property Auctions. Interest in the property was said to be high due to its “mixed-use” nature, as well as the building.

The details of the sales made it clear that the prospective buyers could rent the shop and flat to two separate tenants. The auctioneers also highlighted the Leicestershire village’s “central” location, which they hailed as a “premier” site in the county.

Interested parties were also urged to take advantage of the shop’s fitted kitchen and storage space, which includes disabled access. The apartment includes a double bedroom, kitchen/living room and .

Going into the auction last Thursday (May 30), the former post office had a guide price of £270,000 plus tax. However, despite the features and potential for two tenants, the site failed to sell. It is unclear whether it will appear at SDL Property Auctions’ next sale, which will take place on Thursday, June 27.
