Jain Hurd Obituary – Cornwall Manor, PA

Jain A. Hurd, 88 of Cornwall Manor and formerly of Wallingford and Glenolden Jain A. Hurd, 88, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Health Center. Born in Smyrna, DE on October 11, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary Elizabeth Armstrong Hurd. He graduated in 1942 from John Bassett Moore High School and then attended Beacom College. Jain had retired from FMC Corp. from Philadelphia, where he had worked as an executive secretary. She was a member of the Norwood United Methodist Church and served in various offices over the years. Always full of kindness, she was devoted to her family and friends, enjoyed crafts, toll painting and traveling, Survivors: her grandson Rev. W. Matthew Whayland and his wife Pamela of Lebanon and their daughters Erin and Lindsey. Predeceased by sisters Mary Louise Whayland and Margaret Maloney; brother-in-law Howard C. Maloney. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Cornwall Manor Chapel with Rev. Glen Esler officiating. Burial at a later date will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna, DE.
