The Spence Bridge project aims to improve traffic

CINCINNATI — Reconnecting communities, improving traffic flow and safety are the main goals of the $3.6 billion Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project.

Organizers said they received more than 100 suggestions from the public over the past four months and revised some of the project based on community needs.

Adding a companion bridge and additional intersections are just a few of the ways they hope to improve traffic and safety for those using the bridge.

“We are able to extend the street network from the city center to the Queensgate area,” said Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project manager Tommy Arnold. “We’re dramatically increasing the number of bicycle and pedestrian facilities that go along with that street network field. So again, really addressing that, public feedback in the design of the project.”

Construction is expected to begin by 2026.
