One person dies on train tracks as Liverpool Lime Street issues travel warning

One person has died after being hit by a train while a travel warning was issued.

British Transport Police said the incident happened in Hertfordshire just after 6am today, Wednesday 5 June. The incident is affecting train services, including the Avanti West Coast service between Liverpool Lime Street and London Euston.




A spokesman for Network Rail in Liverpool Lime Street said at around 7am today: “Due to an emergency incident there are no mainline services between Lime Street and Euston this morning. Ticketing and travel advice is on the @nationalrailenq website. Check this information before you travel. “

In a recent update, National Rail said emergency services have now safely completed their work between Watford Junction and Bushey and all lines have reopened. It added that while service is being restored, trains running between these stations may still be “severely delayed by up to 90 minutes or revised”.

It added that major disruption is expected until 1pm today. This also includes Avanti West Coast Blackpool North, Edinburgh, Liverpool Lime Street, Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston.

National Rail has also issued customer advice for Avanti West Coast. It says passengers can use their ticket for the following services at no extra cost:
