Major UK airport disruption alert warning from Jet2 airline

Passengers traveling from a major UK airport this summer are being warned of potential disruption to their holiday plans. Airline Jet2 issued an alert about the issue at Manchester Airport, which it said could mean people could be late for flights from Monday 10 June.

The airport has issued an alert advising people to arrive early due to resurfacing work on the M56. The airport said: “National Highways is carrying out essential resurfacing work overnight on both sides of the M56 between Junction 4 and Junction 7.




“Work is due to start on Monday 10 June 2024 and be completed by August 2024. The closures will be in place between 9pm and 5am Monday to Friday and will extend until 7am on Saturday. This will include a combination of full overnight closures and sliding closures.

“Signed diversion routes will be established. Delays are expected, please allow extra time for your journeys. Check Traffic England for any closures or congestion before you travel.”

In an update on its website, Jet 2 said: “Manchester Airport – Roadworks until August 2024. We have been advised of roadworks between Junctions 5 and 6 of the M56 from Monday 10 June which are expected to be completed by the end of August 2024. .

“There will be closures of the M56, please refer to National Highways for specific closure dates and times during this time frame. Please allow sufficient time to travel to Manchester Airport as all Jet2.com flights are due to operate as scheduled.”
