Car insurance warning for discount drivers ‘nine years no claims’.

Drivers with a nine-year claim-free record have been warned they may not receive further discounts from their insurance providers. It has been pointed out that car insurance companies are unlikely to offer further discounts or savings once drivers reach the nine-year claim-free threshold.

Greg Wilson, CEO of Quotezone.co.uk and car insurance expert, said: “With the cost of car insurance on the rise, it’s no wonder drivers are keen to protect their no-claims discount. However, many may not be aware of the simple things that can invalidate their protection.

Birmingham Live reports that certain policy changes, such as becoming a named driver instead of the primary driver or having a gap of more than two years, could wipe out the no-claims accrual and void the insurance policy.

CEO Greg added: “A no-claims discount can be one of the biggest factors when it comes to the cost of a policy. Unfortunately, many people probably don’t know these big “no nos” that can wipe out their claims and eliminate the discount they’ve built up.

“The difference between zero and five years no claim bonus can also be significant, estimating 30% for one year no claim and 60% for five years no claim, although again each insurance provider can be different so drivers must to compare. .

“Discount no-claims protection is another hot topic this year, customers should check the details with their insurer, get a quote with and without extra protection to compare and ensure their bonus is continuously protected in the event of who decide to change supplier. .

“Protected discounts normally allow drivers to make up two claims in a three to five year period without losing their no-claims discount, but this can vary between insurers so be careful. A recent Quotezone survey found that 39% do not read their insurance terms and conditions in full, this has never been more important, with an increase in new products flooding the market to help make insurance more affordable, it is essential that drivers to check the details thoroughly and ensure they have adequate protection”.

“Not only will it help them stay on the right side of the law, but it will also help them find real savings by ditching any extras they don’t need.”
