Officers from Leicestershire Police have appealed to the public for help in investigating the incident. They have specifically appealed to the driver of a vehicle believed to have stopped at the scene of the accident.

Sergeant Mike Steer, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “From inquiries so far, I believe it may have been a taxi driver who stopped briefly at the scene. I am appealing for this person to come forward as they may have information that could help.

“I would also ask to get in touch with other drivers with dash cams, anyone who saw the collision happen or who saw any vehicles beforehand. Anything you can provide could help our investigation.”

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting reference 24*327779. Alternatively, report information to the force’s website.
