Antisocial behavior continues at 18th-century Leicestershire lodge after arson attack

A derelict 18th-century cottage in Leicestershire has been the scene of “ongoing anti-social behaviour” and police say they are stepping up patrols in the area. Charnwood Police said they had received a large number of reports of activity in the Queniborough Lodge area along Melton Road in Queniborough, near Syston.

In April this year, fire crews were called to a house fire which had been deliberately started. The derelict building was “well alight” when the first three fire crews arrived at the scene and two other crews were called to help extinguish the blaze.

At the time, Melton Road was closed by Leicestershire Police officers while crews from Leicester, Loughborough, Birstall, Shepshed and Billesdon battled the flames for several hours.

Charnwood Police’s Facebook page said: “We have received a high volume of reports in relation to anti-social behavior taking place at Queniborough Lodge along Melton Road in Queniborough.

“The beat team are carrying out high visibility patrols around the location, these patrols will continue for the foreseeable future.”

Queniborough Lodge is an 18th century Georgian building on a site currently being redeveloped to provide around 125 new homes. The area is just north of Syston, west of Melton Road.
