Ryanair was forced to cancel almost 100 flights as passengers demanded to check

Budget airline Ryanair has been forced to cancel dozens of flights amid a strike. Air traffic control workers in France are due to leave tomorrow (Thursday 5 June).

This will affect all travelers hoping to travel to or from Paris Beauvais Airport. As a result, Ryanair canceled nearly 100 flights, including at least one from Birmingham Airport.

A Ryanair spokesman said: “It is inexplicable that Ursula von der Leyen and the EU Commission have not taken action to protect the freedom of movement of EU passengers during these repeated strikes by French ATC.

“As a result, we have been forced to cancel nearly 100 flights to/from Paris Beauvais Airport tomorrow, Thursday 6 June, unfairly disrupting the travel plans of thousands of EU passengers at short notice.

“EU passengers are tired of suffering unnecessary cancellations during ATC strikes. The EU Commission must now act on the Ryanair Protect Passengers – Keep EU Skies Open petition of over 2.1 million signatures from EU passengers, which Ryanair sent directly to EU Commission offices in May, September and January last.”

They added: “There is no excuse for EU passengers to bear the brunt of unrelated national ATC strikes and it is time Ursula von der Leyen and the EU Commission did something about it.”

Ryanair currently operates to Paris Beauvais Airport from Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Edinburgh and Belfast, The Sun reports. Flights to other areas of France may also be affected, passengers were warned.
