Manchester United player gives update after season-ending injury

Manchester United starlet Dan Gore has had successful shoulder surgery.

The 19-year-old, who joined Port Vale on loan in the January transfer window, dislocated his left shoulder in his first game against Portsmouth. He has been unavailable for selection since injury.

After his return to Carrington, Gore underwent surgery and in an Instagram update, he uploaded a picture of himself in the hospital giving the thumbs up along with the post with the caption: “Gutted I dislocated my shoulder and I had to have surgery. However, the operation went. Well, now it’s time to rest and recover and prepare for the new season.”

Gore was included in Erik ten Hag’s 31-man squad for last year’s tour of the United States and played in the friendly against Lyon. He could be included in the squad for pre-season this year, with a host of fellow academy hopefuls also set to be involved with the European Championship and Copa America tournaments taking place this summer. Speaking previously about the youngster, Ten Hag told MUTV: “I’m not a manager who gives opportunities to players (for no reason), they have to earn them.

“Once they win it, they have their chance. They have to earn it every day in training. I don’t give opportunities to young players. They have to constantly prove their worth in training because if they don’t it can affect the team. We are very critical .

“They have to deserve it every day in training. And when the standards are too low, they will hurt us and we don’t play them because they have to train every day at their best.”
