Man in custody while police arrested after woman was raped in Castleford

A man has been arrested after a woman was raped in Castleford.

The woman is said to have been raped in Castleford in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 2).

A police cordon has been set up at the Townville Sports and Social Club on Poplar Avenue as part of ongoing inquiries into the incident.

A 32-year-old man has now been arrested in connection with the sexual assault and is in police custody.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “An arrest has been made in connection with the investigation into the sexual assault of a woman in Castleford in the early hours of Sunday (June 2). A 32-year-old man was arrested and is in police custody.”
