Woman found stabbed to death in South Pasadena home

SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) — Police are investigating after a 70-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in her South Pasadena home Tuesday night.

The woman was found at her home on Brent Avenue around 8:45 p.m. after authorities said the woman’s family went to the home to perform some sort of welfare check.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was found unresponsive and bleeding.

Once police arrived, they found she had been stabbed in the upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was unclear whether she was killed as part of a burglary, robbery or other incident. The circumstances of her death remain under investigation.

“It’s the quietest neighborhood I’ve ever lived in,” resident Pauline Dutheil said. “To be honest, I live alone and my apartment door is open now. I don’t lock it, if that describes how peaceful I feel here.”

No suspects were in custody and no description was available.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s detectives are assisting South Pasadena police with the investigation.
