Latest Manchester United injury news as Erik ten Hag finally gets welcome boost ahead of Arsenal

Manchester United have finally caught a break with their injury crisis after two key players were welcomed back into first-team training on Thursday afternoon.

Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford have been confirmed to return to the Carrington training ground following injury layoffs. Martinez has been missing for the Reds since the 1-1 draw with Brentford and has made just 11 appearances all season due to a spate of injuries.

As for Rashford, the winger was injured in the penalty shoot-out win against Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals and has not played since. The Argentine centre-back could be a doubt to return on Sunday given his time on the sidelines, but Rashford should hopefully be fit enough for a place in the squad to face Arsenal this weekend.

The hope is that Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay and Luke Shaw all could play a role in this weekend’s game. Fernandes rarely misses games, but the wrist injury he picked up at Wembley Stadium finally caught up with him and meant he missed the heavy defeat to Crystal Palace.

McTominay has been out with an undisclosed injury for the past few weeks, but it was hoped he would return to training last Saturday in preparation for the match at Old Trafford eight days later. As for Shaw, it is unclear whether or not he has been brought back into the squad sessions, but he is back on the pitch.

Questions remain about Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, Victor Lindelof and of Willy Kambwala return dates but it is known that of Harry Maguire the earliest return date will be the FA Cup final at best and Tyrell Malacia he will have to wait until next season to return to the team.
