Charged with attempted murder after Bristol Road stabbing

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in Selly Oak. The 32-year-old victim was found injured on Bristol Road, near Dawlish Road, at around 8.30pm on June 1.

Jalen Denny, 26, was later charged with attempted murder. He is also charged with possession of a knife.



Denny appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 5. He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on July 3.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We have charged a man with attempted murder after another man was stabbed on Bristol Road in Selly Oak. Jalen Denny, 26, is also charged with possession of a knife.

“We launched a major investigation after the 32-year-old victim was found injured near the junction with Dawlish Road just after 8.30pm on June 1. Denny appeared before the city’s magistrates yesterday and was remanded in custody ahead of his next appearance at Birmingham Crown. Court on July 3.

“The victim remains in a stable condition in hospital.”
