Live updates as police cordon off much of Aylestone Meadows in Leicester

Police cordons are currently in place in Aylestone Meadows in Leicester. An onlooker reported that there was a “large police presence” in the area this afternoon (Thursday, June 6).

Police tape is set up blocking the paths through the nature reserve. The Pebble Beach Bridge is also blocked. Another witness said; “There are cordons everywhere. I normally come on the Great Central Way which runs along the top of Aylestone Meadows.

“Usually you can get off the bridge that takes you over Pebble Beach, but that’s completely cut off.”

We have contacted Leicestershire Police to find out why the cordons are in place. We are reporting this incident live. All the latest updates are below.
