Cornish inn named Pub of the Year

The Peterville Inn in St Agnes was named Pub of the Year at the annual VisitEngland awards last night.

The announcements marked the end of the 2023/24 awards cycle, which began in 2023 when businesses across the country entered their local tourism awards.

The national winners were announced at a glitzy event at Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel, with categories ranging from attractions, pubs and self-catering businesses to B&Bs, small hotels and new tourism businesses.

While The Peterville Inn took gold in the pub category, My Cottages in St Ives won Silver for Self Catering and The Pig at Harlyn Bay took bronze in the Small Hotel of the Year category.

Robin Barker from awards organizers South West Services for Tourism, commented: β€œIt was a delight to share in the success of an amazing group of tourism businesses. Their commitment to excellence, sustainability, affordability and customer service is a testament to their entire team, be it managers, front of house staff, cleaners or volunteers.”

The 2023/24 awards are currently open for entries with a deadline of 23 June. South West businesses are being encouraged to sign up to their county schemes with the chance to go on to national success.
