Leeds United have taken winger Jaidon Anthony on loan this season as they reacted quickly to the loss of Luis Sinisterra, but the Bournemouth man has done nothing to warrant considering a permanent move.

As Leeds begin to re-plan their push for automatic promotion to the Championship, they will need to sort out the situations of players who have been loaned out for the season and have also gone out on loan.

Leeds failed to make use of the loan market in the 22/23 season, with Joe Rodon the only addition to join the permanent signings.

Jaidon Anthony will return to Bournemouth after a spell at Leeds

Leeds did well enough in the 2023 summer window to react to Bournemouth’s deadline day move for Luis Sinisterra, taking Jaidon Anthony on loan instead.

It was a direct loan move for the Cherries winger, despite the fact that they have now signed Sinisterra permanently for £20m.

After the playoff final, Anthony’s loan spell is now over and he is set to return to Andoni Iraola’s squad.

He shared this message on his Instagram story saying goodbye:

Will Leeds be promoted next season?

Will Leeds make another move to sign Anthony from Bournemouth?

In terms of Leeds pursuing any permanent deals for players who have come in on loan, Anthony will be practically last on the list.

There was no option to buy in his deal and Cherries boss Andoni Iraola has already declared his eagerness to start working with the winger again.

He said (via the Daily Echo):

“I remember the last market day, it was very difficult for Jaidon. I wanted to help him, because I think he played quite a lot of minutes with us in the first games.

“He is a player I like a lot. His attitude, how he understands everything we try to tell him. I was trying to help him, but I didn’t know exactly what to say to him, because I also knew all the options I had in the wings.

“It was a difficult decision for him, for sure. He also went to a place where they have really, really good interiors.

“They make the difference – (Crysencio) Summerville, (Wilfried) Gnonto, (Dan) James. He has strong opposition for minutes. But I think he’s a very good player and I can’t wait to work with him again.”
