A 50-year-old Cornwall man faces seven charges following a police investigation dating back to April.

Police alleged the man tampered with four separate ATMs while in possession of burglary tools and attempted to steal money. He was found during a police stop on Wednesday and arrested.

John Bazil, 50, was charged with theft under $5,000; four counts of mischief under $5,000; possession of burglary tools; and violation of probation for breach of peace.

A 57-year-old Cornwall man is facing charges after police responded to a call Wednesday.

Police alleged the man damaged someone else’s vehicle.

Raymond Saumure, 57, was charged with mischief under $5,000.

Thefts, violations

A 48-year-old man from Cornwall is facing six charges following police investigations into two incidents last month.

Police said the man removed merchandise from a Montreal Road business on May 7 without paying for it and did so again at a Ninth Street East business on May 25. After both dates, warrants were issued for his arrest, and on Wednesday he was found and taken into custody by an officer on patrol.

James McCormick, 48, was charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and four counts of breaching release orders for not living at a particular address and failing to notify police of a change of address.

He was released from police custody to appear at Cornwall Crown Court on July 25.

A 27-year-old woman faces seven charges following an ongoing police investigation into complaints from businesses on Second Street East and Ninth Street West.

Police alleged the woman removed merchandise from businesses on Second Street East on Jan. 26, May 14 and May 25; and, from Ninth Street West on January 29, February 12, February 14, and May 27, each time without paying for what was removed. Warrants were issued for her arrest after each date. She was found on Wednesday and taken into police custody.

A 42-year-old Akwesasne man is facing three charges after police investigated complaints from businesses on Ninth Street West.

Police said the man removed merchandise from a Ninth Street West store twice on May 23 without paying once, and also removed merchandise from another Ninth Street West business on May 30 more without paying for it. He was found and taken into police custody on Wednesday.

Travis Cook, 42, was charged with three counts of theft under $5,000.

He was released from police custody to appear at Cornwall Crown Court on July 25.
