Birmingham City send recruitment message after ‘huge appointment’

Birmingham City have appointed Spurs manager Chris Davies as their new manager – and the reaction has been almost universally positive.

The 39-year-old has penned a four-year deal and joins with immediate effect, replacing the ill Tony Mowbray, who quit on 21 May.

And Blues supporters were quick to judge the decision to pick the former Celtic, Liverpool and Leicester City manager after passing on more established candidates such as Alex Neil, Liam Rosenior and Frank Lampard.

Davies, the third permanent Blues boss of the Knighthead era after Wayne Rooney and Mowbray, was tasked with guiding the Blues back to the Championship and doing so in a style in line with the oft-stated desire of the owners.
