Luis Binks, on loan from Coventry City, expresses his desire to leave Bologna

Coventry City loanee Luis Binks has “expressed” his desire to leave Bologna for good this summer, according to CoventryLive.

Coventry City took the defender on loan last July and has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season, 18 of which have come in the Championship. He is now set to return to his parent club and his future is up in the air.

Binks, 22, has two years left on his contract at Bologna, meaning a transfer fee will be needed to lure him away from the Serie A side. The Italian club have a major decision to make regarding what to do next with him before the next transfer window.

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins said on Saturday, according to CoventryLive: “He’s someone we want to keep in touch with and see how things go. But that will come over time and it depends on a number of factors.”

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

The Coventry City loanee eyes out

The fact that Binks is open to leaving Bologna is a boost to Coventry City’s chances of landing him, assuming they are keen to lure him back to England.

He provides competition and depth to the Robins’ defensive department and has the potential to grow and develop in the future.

The former England youth international rose through the academy ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and went on to represent the Premier League outfit at various youth levels.

Binks then moved to Canada in 2020 and joined the Montreal Impact. He broke into the MLS outfit’s first team before catching the eye of Bologna soon after.

He was on the books at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara and played 15 games for them in the last four years.

The defender had a loan spell at Como before linking up with Coventry City just over 12 months ago.

What’s next for Coventry City?

Coventry City lost in the play-off final to Luton Town at Wembley last year and it has been a transitional campaign at the CBS Arena.

The Robins’ men missed out on the top six but managed to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

They brought in the likes of Haji Wright and Ellis Simms to replace Viktor Gyokeres last year and the best of the pair is yet to come.

Coventry City have not yet published the retained list and it is expected soon.
