Delivery driver threatened by gang during robbery says someone ‘might’ have had a gun

A group of men threatened a delivery driver during a robbery in Leicester and the victim reported that one of the men “may” have had a gun. Leicestershire Police have launched an appeal for witnesses following the incident in the Eyres Monsell area yesterday (Wednesday, June 5).

The force said it was called to Southfields Drive at 12.45pm after packages were taken from a van. The victim, a man in his 20s, was said to have reported seeing three men get out of a silver Ford Mondeo. Leicestershire Police said the group left the area in the Mondeo.

A number of parcels were later found dumped in Aylestone Meadows, the force added. It said no arrests have been made at this stage and the victim was not injured.

An 80-year-old man was taken to hospital after the accident

Detective Inspector Kev Hames said: “Southfields Drive runs parallel to the A563 ring road so I’m sure there will have been people who saw what happened. I’m appealing for anyone with information – and especially drivers with dash cams – to come forward.

“I would also ask anyone living in the area who has a doorbell or CCTV camera to get in touch. I would also like to speak to anyone who saw a silver Ford Mondeo in the area this morning or who saw a group of men acting in a way that appeared unusual or suspicious. Anything you can tell us could be key.”

You can pass information by visiting the force’s website and quoting the reference 24*329658 Alternatively you can call 101.
