Leeds United could now look to sell a £7million player this summer after missing out on promotion

Leeds United will officially be able to start doing transfer business per week.

The 2024 summer transfer window kicks off on Friday 14 June and it’s fair to say it could be a busy few months at Elland Road.

It’s almost two weeks since Leeds’ 1-0 defeat by Southampton in the play-off final sent them to another season of Championship football.

Despite the disappointment, chairman Paraag Marathe was quick to come out and speak to the media about Leeds’ plans going forward and was quite upbeat in suggesting that they will put together a squad ready to go one better next season.

While he confirmed that there will be funds available to spend, he also acknowledged that some large sales may be needed to ensure they remain compliant with the PSR.

Journalist shares an update on Patrick Bamford’s Leeds future

LeedsUnited.News Earlier this week, he spoke to insider Graeme Bailey about a number of topics surrounding the club ahead of the window.

It certainly offered some interesting updates, with Brenden Aaronson possibly staying among them, as well as the likelihood of Joe Rodon re-signing for the Whites.

Bailey also claimed that Gretar Steinsson is a big fan of out-of-contract Sheffield United striker Daniel Jebbison, with the Leeds boss keen to bring him across Yorkshire on a free transfer.

And his arrival could be one of a number of changes at the top end of the pitch for Daniel Farke, with Bailey reporting that Patrick Bamford could be sold this summer.

Bamford was linked with an exit just before the start of the play-offs and now it looks like he’s really someone they’ll be trying to offload.

Bailey said: “Going back to Jebbison, they want to evaluate the forward department. They want to address their attackers, Bamford being one of them.

“He’s got big money, but do we see him going all the way to the bottom of the Premier League? Quite possibly the England international, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bamford go.”

Bamford would be a good sale for Leeds

It’s crazy to think that Bamford has now been at Leeds for six years since his £7m arrival from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018.

He certainly contributed a lot in that time, but for the third season in a row there were too many question marks surrounding his form.

Bamford is one of Leeds’ top scorers but was once again unavailable for the crunch of the season, including all three play-off games.

If Leeds can sell him for anywhere close to what they paid for him, promote Mateo Joseph to a more prominent role and sign another striker, it would be a good deal.
