Birmingham City looked at over a THOUSAND managers in a desperate bid to avoid a repeat of Wayne Rooney’s mistake

BIRMINGHAM CITY believe they have landed a multi-million dollar manager after appointing Spurs assistant head coach Chris Davies as their new manager.

The Blue bosses claim to have run the rule over 1,000 managers and held talks with 40 potential contenders to replace Tony Mowbray, either directly or through their agents.

But after an exhaustive search, they picked 39-year-old assistant Ange Postecoglou, who has 15 years of top-level coaching experience, on a four-year deal.

Davies, who managed Spurs, Liverpool and Celtic alongside Brendan Rodgers and Postecoglou, said: “It’s a club with an ambition that mirrors mine and a plan to make it happen.

“I can’t wait to get started.

“It’s such an exciting time to be at the Blues.

“I will give my all to build an attacking team that reflects this great city and, most importantly, to produce a team that our supporters can be proud of.
