Support for Kirstie Allsopp as she shares sad news and tribute

Presenter Kirstie Allsopp says her father Charles has died aged 83. The property and crafts star said her father, the 6th Baron Hindlip, died at home on June 5.

Kirstie took to social media to write: ‘This is my dad Charlie Hindlip. He was a great auctioneer, the best of his generation, an artist, a gardener, father of four and grandfather of eight, a loving husband to a wife he lost too soon.




“He was a true star, worked hard, played hard and went further than anyone expected.

“He died at home yesterday, surrounded by love, flowers and photographs, in a house he built, overlooking a stunning garden he created from scratch. I have been so proud to be his daughter all my life and will be until the day I die, bless you dad, I loved you so much.”

Presenting partner Phil Spencer, who works with Kirstie on Location, Location, Location, said: “What a hugely talented and charismatic man your dear father was – a true legend of his time. He truly lived an extraordinary life. I sent you all. masses and masses of love and power Xxx”.

Fellow presenter George Clarke replied: “So sorry for your loss Kirstie… but what lovely words about him. Sending you the biggest hugs and mountains of love. George xxxxx”.

Presenter Amanda Lamb wrote: “Oh Kirstie, my heart is broken for you. You sound like the best kind of dad… how lucky you were… You will all be in my thoughts and prayers xxx”

Charles was the former chairman of London auction house Christie’s until his retirement in 2002.
