Leeds United striker target sends one-word message to Mateo Joseph after Thursday’s announcement

Mateo Joseph could have a big year at Leeds United next season.

Joseph has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Elland Road under Daniel Farke but is still awaiting his full league debut for the club, showing just how much he still has to offer.

As well as a string of strong impacts from the bench, including a late equalizer at Watford, Joseph scored twice in just his second start of the season in the FA Cup defeat at Chelsea in March.

That game was a real major for Joseph and finally showed what he can really offer Leeds, but Farke continued to resist the urge to give him a proper opportunity in the league.

However, with Patrick Bamford on the way out, his chance could indeed come next season and a strong summer could set him up to become Leeds’ first choice number nine.

LeedsUnited.News He spoke to Insider Graeme Bailey this week about a number of topics surrounding Leeds ahead of the January window.

One of those was the future of Bamford, with Bailey making specific reference to the forward being a position Leeds are looking to revisit in the summer.

And someone who has been linked with a free move to Yorkshire is Sheffield United striker Daniel Jebbison, who is out of contract this month.

Gretar Steinsson is said to be a big fan of the 20-year-old and therefore wants to bring him to Leeds, and he has just fueled the speculation by commenting on a Joseph post.

The pair actually played alongside each other for England U20s last year, so Jebbison sent a one-word message of support to Joseph after his announcement on Instagram on Thursday.

Joseph confirmed he has now signed a sponsorship deal with global sportswear company Adidas and Jebbison was keen to congratulate him on his latest footballing achievement.

It now remains to be seen whether they will be team-mates at club level next season, with Jebbison yet to make a decision on his future.

What transfer insider Graeme Bailey had to say about Leeds’ pursuit of Jebbison

Including Fulham’s Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Jebbison is one of two forwards to be a free agent that Leeds were linked with before the summer.

While interest in his services is high, Bailey says Jebbison is a player Steinsson is really determined to bring to Leeds.

He said: “He’s the kind of player Gretar Steinsson wants. Young, physical, something different from what they have in the squad, obviously youth. It would be a good deal, he’s only young.

“It would be a trade-off to play, but it wouldn’t be very expensive in terms of actual market value. It’s a good deal on all fronts really if they can get over the line. It would be a decent shot because there is a lot of interest in him.”
